Sarah Salazar

Sarah is not a “cyclist” like most of the staff, however, she does enjoy getting on her bike. Her favorite “ride” would be using the 3rd Street bike path to navigate to Himmel Park, the library, Whole Foods, Bookman’s, and Casa Video.

As a child, being the oldest of her cousins, she often led all of them on bike rides (at the age of 10) to the community pool or her favorite feeling of freedom: going the “back way” to 7-11.

While there they would take turns watching one another’s bikes and going in to stock up on snacks. Back when the fanny pack had first come into fashion, she had used that as her bar bag with special velcro attachments for it to secure to the middle of her handlebars.

“I would normally buy as many snacks as that fanny pack could hold. Looking back at that makes me smile and also fills me with such awe and admiration at how skilled, talented, tough, and strong our riders here at El Grupo are. I wish that a program like this had existed when I was younger so I could have had the opportunity to take my love of bike riding to the next level. I am so grateful that my children get to have this experience and are able to build on my childhood memories.”
