Last week of school! – OPTIONAL practices only Tues & Wed

by daniela on Monday May 20th, 2013 at 5:02 pm

Make sure you finish the end of the school year as strong as you would finish a bike race! Practices on Tuesday and Wednesday are strictly OPTIONAL. If school is under control, and you want to come move and have fun with us, please do!

Tuesday – Cross training with Daniela

Wednesday – Tumamoc - families always welcome to join us!

Help needed for Saturday/Sunday!! D & I will not be around this weekend. Parental and volunteer help out on rides would be much appreciated! PLEASE COMMENT if you can help on either day.

Saturday: Shoot Out riders should do that! 5:45am Old Man & 6am Big Boy

We need a coach/parent or two for a B/C team ride. PLEASE COMMENT if you can help, thanks!

Sunday: Would love to see the team head out to Fantasy Island for mountain biking, but again NEED help to make it all happen!

If ride leaders don’t happen (it is a holiday weekend!) then get  out on a bike ride, go swimming, go for a run. Move a little! It will make next week a lot easier – honestly!

Finally, PLEASE sign up for a check-in meeting time via this Doodle Calendar.

Saturday – Optional C team ride

by daniela on Friday May 17th, 2013 at 3:22 pm

Anyone not doing the shoot out is welcome to get out on a ride – probably no more than 30 miles or so – with volunteer Melanie Colavito.

Leaving clubhouse at 6:30am sharp!

Week of May 13th & PARTY!!!

by daniela on Monday May 13th, 2013 at 3:30 pm

Keeping it fun and different this week…as it heats up! Stay hydrated, as always. Thanks for a very cool experience riding with the Vistoso Cycling Club this past Saturday!

Tuesday: Balance & Strength session with Daniela. Wear stretchy pants. Seriously. We will ride to a nearby park and try to stay cool.

Wednesday: Fun ride for all. Those doing mountain bike skills with Jason Tullous will have session #2.

Thursday: Tumamoc! It was AWESOME to have so many parents out last week – bring the family along! And bring a hat and water bottle this week – it WILL be hot.

Saturday morning – If you ride the shoot out, you are encouraged to ride. 5;45am Old Man. 6am Big boy.

Saturday – TEAM PARTY! Rane, Bobby & Jim (Tyler’s family) are hosting the pool party at their house starting at 4pm:

3508 N Calle Floreada
Tucson, AZ 85750

They will do the main dish, either BBQ or something like that keeping in mind we need to also have veggie options.  We are asking if other folks could bring salads, sweets, drinks and fruit/veggies. PLEASE COMMENT what you will be bringing so we can plan accordingly. All riders and families are invited. There will be a team meeting aspect to the party to touch base with everyone about upcoming events/dates. And simply to celebrate an awesome season with an awesome team!

Sunday – ALL mountain biking out at Robles trails. Leaving clubhouse at 6am!

Week of May 6th – 12th

by daniela on Tuesday May 7th, 2013 at 11:13 am

The practices that were listed in a previous post remain the same for this week – only the dates were off by a week.

NO SPANDEX on Tuesday (today!). We will be cleaning up the clubhouse, van, trailer and signing sponsor jerseys. Everyone should be there!

Tuesday the 7th-- We are going to get the clubhouse cleaned up and I need to make sure that everyone has a mountain bike. So please on this day let’s make sure that we all have mountain bikes.

Wednesday 8th– All first time mountain biker are going to ride with a master at Barrio Trials.

All others will go on an urban fun mountain bike ride.

Thursday 9th– Tumamoc. Please families feel welcome to come. Also riders please bring real shoes.

SATURDAY, MAY 11TH: Super fun ride with Vistoso Cycling Club – longtime supporters of El Grupo and really strong retired riders.  This is mandatory and families are invited to join us at Dove Mountain resort for the ice cream social part!  Here is what the plan is:

The Cyclists will meet El Grupo near Tohono Chul Park (a familiar route near Ina and Paseo de Norte) about 7:45am, in the adjacent church parking lot. This will be a chance to get acquainted briefly. Then, we will re-trace Northern and La Canada through Oro Valley to the destination:  the “summit” at Dove Mountain.

Dove Mountain will be a treat for the kids;  The nearly 6-mile downhill descend will be a blast. Perhaps, the coolest experience for all of
us will be at the base of Dove Mountain;  Dove Mountain Park, is a hidden park jewel. Here the kids and Cyclist can enjoy each other, and with ice cream treats, cookies, and coffee for the adultsAll the conveniences are there; restrooms, picnic facilities, open grassy areas, and shade. Cyclists and volunteers will be prepared for the riders

All Vistoso Cyclists, their spouses and friends are invitedand to view the riding action. Videos and Photos will be taken throughout the event

More details about starting times for us will be posted this week.

Sunday – Mother’s Day – NO PRACTICE

However, there is a Cyclofemme ride that you could take your mom on. See more details here.

Mt. Lemmon Time Trial

by Mary Adkisson on Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Hi all,

If anyone needs anything from the club house for the race tomorrow please contact Connor at 520-661-7250 or Ben.  We prefer not to have to make a Club House run at 0′dark thirty tomorrow so  would appreciate it if you let us know today and we can meet you there.

Damion, Sam’s dad, will be picking up our packets.  The first rider starts at 6:30am and after that another rider goes in 30 second intervals. As soon as Ignacio knows the start times he will let everyone know, however everyone should plan on being at the start at 6:30am.

The TT begins near the intersection of Snyder road and Catalina highway, and finishes 9 miles later at Seven Cataracts Overlook.  ALL PARKING, DAY OF REGISTRATION AND START LISTS AT TANQUE VERDE HIGH SCHOOL, 4201 N. MELPOMENE WAY, TUCSON 85749

Gila TT Update

by ignaciordr on Friday May 3rd, 2013 at 7:58 pm

As usual this is the hardest TT in the west. It goes up then down, up then down. It is hard windy and after a super hard stage like yesterday, well it’s just not easy. Nick was crazy pumped for today and he rode like it. He finished with a great time and in 10th place. Christian had to hold on to his place from the other day and this is a course that is not friendly to junior gears so he had his work cut out for him. He did great. Finishing in the top ten as well and is now in 6th well within sticking distance of the podium. Tomorrow is the crit and we will protect him as best we can while looking for the win with another one of our great riders.
