Beyond riding bikes competitively and for fun and health, another way that El Grupo “empowers youth through bicycles” is community outreach. On Saturday, 3/31/12, some El Grupo youth were guides for the families who participated in the Kidical Mass ride and other El Grupo riders helped educate young bicyclists about bike safety at the El Rio Health Fair. Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with Skywalker, Emily, Keenan, Duncan and Jade. They helped me out at the El Rio Health Fair. They were incredibly great ambassadors for riding, El Grupo, and Youth in general. I want to thank you all for your hard work. This sort of out reach is as important to me as anything else we do as a team. Us going out and encouraging other kids to ride is a huge part of what we are about.
